Pain Management with Acupuncture

Pain can be treated successfully with Acupuncture.  Herbs can also be helpful in treating the underlying conditions.  Here are some examples of common types of pain

What Acupuncture can Treat:

Backache (acute or chronic)
Knee pain
Neck pain
Shoulder pain
Wrist Pain
Chronic Headaches / Migraines
Menstrual cramps
Sports injuries to tendons and ligaments
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Repetitive stress injuries
Nerve Pain

Most patients feel some immediate relief from Acupuncture, and for anyone that has been in pain this can make all the difference.

Reason’s for Acupuncture:

Muscle spasms
Stress
Reduction of pain
Reduction of inflammation
Speeding up of recovery

How it works:

Acupuncture works to relieve pain by moving the energy in the meridians.  Meridians can be compared to highways in the body. If there is a traffic jam on these so-called highways, we will experience pain.  Therefore, when energy is blocked there will be pain, but when the energy is allowed to move the pain will be relieved.

If the pain is chronic or acute there may be underlying issues that need to be addressed in order to help the body to heal.  Some of these issues could be scar tissue from an old injury, digestive problems due to diet, or hormonal due to a premenstrual syndrome.

If the pain is caused by an acute injury with swelling, acupuncture should be avoided in that direct area.  But because of the principle of meridians (or highways) we can treat an injury by using acupuncture on an area along the meridian that moves right through the affected area.  This can be very helpful in having a quicker recovery period for a new injury.
